Nashville based singer-songwriter Dan Corio grew up in and around a musical family in the New York, New Jersey area. His love of music started at the age of ten after seeing the movie La Bamba. There was something in the tone of the guitar in that movie and the music he heard that had Dan teaching himself guitar without any formal lessons in the years to follow.
Other early influences by Stevie Ray Vaughn, BB King, and Elvis. It didn’t take long before The Dan Corio Band began playing regularly in rock clubs featuring Dan with his younger brother Sean on the drums. Gary Moore and Mark Knopfler, were huge influences that helped to develop Dan’s unique style.
Dan was hired by the New York City Police Department and was a first responder to Ground Zero during the 9-11 attacks. Following that he served in the NYPD special operations division on both the SCUBA team and the Emergency Service Unit, retiring in 2020.
Because of his time on the NYPD, Dan became increasingly aware of the high numbers of the members of service taking their own lives. That coupled with what he saw in emergency situations with civilians, Dan began to focus his energies on mental health awareness to suicide prevention.
